Hawaii Clinical Research Center - Why Hawaii?

As the 50th state, Hawaii shares the same statutory, governmental, institutional and medical service delivery arrangements with other states in the Union. Despite our distance from East Coast centers, airlines tend to provide more direct, non-stop flights to the Islands, resulting in time and cost efficiency as compared with flights to many west coast and southern destinations. Despite initial apprehension, every pharmaceutical firm and CRO that we have collaborated with has remarked positively about the logistical factors at the conclusion of studies.

Multi-ethnic Population
The State of Hawaii provides a rich multi-ethnic community for conducting clinical research with pharmaceutical and other medical products. The principal island of Oahu with the capital city of Honolulu has a population of nearly 1 million people with multiple races representative of the entire Asian and Pacific basin countries. No ethnic group is in the majority. Indeed, this diverse population mix is a fair representation of the peoples of the world and fertile ground for internationally-oriented clinical research.

Large Japanese Population
Hawaii's large population of Japanese residents is perfect for conducting Japan - US bridging studies. Over the years, HCRC has collaborated with many sponsors in planning and conducting both inpatient and outpatient studies to support regulatory submissions in Japan.
